When we first started migrating data to a WordPress installation it seemed that the site might get revitalized, but unfortunately that isn’t the case. Almost all of our resources are tied up in RetroReprints, so very little time or budget can be distributed to Toonarific. Because of that, and not finding a seamless data transition from the old database to the new one, we will be shutting down this month. We simply do not have the time it would take to copy and paste every single show info section to the new layout, or to add in every new entry that it is missing. The site has been up and running for over 2 decades, which is pretty crazy, and has gone through many redesigns. It was a labor of love, and one of the oldest cartoon reference sites on the interwebs. I can only think of a couple others that have been out as long. Huge, well funded sites came and went, or got bought and metamorphosed in to something completely different in those years, and with the introductions of Wikipedia and fan wikis, we became fairly obsolete trying to cover so many titles with a skeleton team. We are sad, as this was something created with the hopes it would become so much more over time. And we still hope RetroReprints will eventually, too. But as that is our priority now, it would be best to just shut Toonarific down and keep the memories we have of when it was booming. We thank all of the loyal fans, and even those who still stumble across us, as we did it all for you. The web is an amazing source of information. Make the most of it.
