CBS TV aired this mini-series of concerts for kids, which introduced them to many facets of music. The series was first broadcast from NYC's Carnegie Hall before the series moved to Averey Fisher Hall at Lincon Center in the 1960's.

Leonard Bernstein was the program's first mc and instructor. On one show in the late 1960's character actor, dialectician and humorist Peter Ustinov served as a guest host/ performer/ instructor and narrator.

Following Mr. Berstein's retirement as the musical director of The New York Philharmonic Orchestra, Michael Tillson Thomas took over the podium for "The Young People's Concerts". Mr. Thomas continued to bring "The Young People's Concerts" to his live audiences and to tv viewers until the series finally ended in 1977.
