|Following his abrupt departure from ABC TV's "Super Circus", Claude Kirchner moved to NYC where he was offered the hosting job for this daily tv cartoon series.
Set against the backdrop of a traveling circus, Kirchner (Dressed in his Ringmaster' costume) would engage his viewers in games, stories, informational segments, hobbies and interviews with guest performers and perrsonalities while trying to surpress the antics of his wisecracking clown puppet character "Clownie". "Clownie" would take great delight in making fun of Mr.Kirchner's height with such remarks as "Skinny Bones", "String Bean" and the somewhat controversal "High Pockets!".
The program would rerun the sound versions of "The Terrytunes" Movie cartoons that featured "Gandy Goose", "Little Roquefort The Mouse", "Percy The Cat" and "Mighty Mouse". "Terrytunes Circus" was seen Weekday evenings on Ch.9 from Monday October 22, 1956 to Friday April 27, 1962.
