"In 70,000 B.C., the struggle for survival is a constant one,
As animal preys upon animal, and animal is in turn preyed upon..."

Premiering the same year as Land of the Lost and Valley of the Dinosaurs, Korg: 70,000 B.C. was yet another entrant in the prehistoric kid show derby. Hanna-Barbera produced this half-hour live-action series that showed the struggle for survival in a primitive world as seen through the experiences of a Neanderthal family living in the year 70,000 B.C.

Alongside his wife Mara and brother Bok, patriarch Korg raised a family of three children—boys Tane and Tor and girl Ree. Helped along by the narration of famed character actor Burgess Meredith ("The Penguin" on the 1960's Batman), the program showed how the everyday lives and adventures of a typical family would be played out against the backdrop of the prehistoric era.

The American Museum of Natural History in New York and the Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History both consulted on this program in an effort to make it more authentic. Viewers, however, preferred to get their prehistoric fill from this show's more danger-based competitors, and Korg: 70,000 B.C. disappeared after only one season.
