|After one season on ABC's one-two-three punch The Pac-Man/Little Rascals/Richie Rich Show, Pac-Man joined forces with fellow 80's fad the Rubik's Cube for The Pac-Man/Rubik the Amazing Cube Hour. The latter two-thirds of the original show decided to stick it out together, and thus The Little Rascals/Richie Rich Show was born.
The Little Rascals were, of course, the characters of Hal Roach's 1930's Our Gang and Little Rascals movie shorts. This animated version featured everyone from Spanky to Buckwheat to Pete the dog (now a puppy), engaging in their familiar horseplay.
Richie Rich was initially a Harvey comic book created in the 1960's. Dubbed "The richest kid in the world," Rich went on globe-trotting adventures with his buddy Freckles, girlfriend Gloria, dog Dollar, butler Cadbury, and robotic maid Irona. And since he could afford it, Richie always went equipped with wacky inventions from Professor Keanbean, director of the Rich Science Center.
After one more season, both sides called it quits. Richie Rich showed up again in repeats in 1986, this time on CBS, but only for just over a month. Both properties resurfaced in the 1990's as feature films, and Richie Rich got another shot at cartoon fame with a 1996 syndicated series.
